Check an answer before using it
A chatbot can produce a confident answer containing incorrect information. Ask your child to find another reliable source for important claims. For schoolwork, check with the teacher what help is allowed and have your child explain what they submit.
Consider what you enter
Use a fictional example instead of your child’s full name, address, health information or private conversations. Do not upload other people’s images or sensitive documents without understanding the purpose and having the necessary permission.
Read the service’s rules about age, storage and use of content. A chatbot is not a confidential conversation with an adult, even when its language feels personal.
An image or voice may have been altered
AI can generate and alter images, video and audio. A recording alone does not prove an event happened. If you receive an unexpected request for money or information, check with the person through a contact method you already know.
Do not forward abusive material to ask whether it is real. Find an adult or appropriate support service to help with reporting and next steps.
Use AI as a tool and check the result
Safe Camera uses local AI for image analysis in Sprout’s web test. The image itself is processed on your device, but the analysis can be wrong. In this test, Safe Keyboard uses word lists and reply suggestions without an external AI service.
None of the web apps automatically monitor your child’s other messages or images. Pressure, threats or concerns about wellbeing require human support.
