Sprout Guard's child safety policy explains how the app helps children, parents, schools and trusted adults without hidden monitoring, without image storage and without giving adults access to raw private life.
Our goal
Sprout Guard helps children, parents, schools and trusted adults notice risks early, respond calmly and build healthier digital habits. The app is a support tool, not a replacement for care, dialogue, emergency services or professional advice.
Our principles
Children should be able to get help quickly, understand what is active and be met calmly. Parents should see safety status, not raw private life. Schools may only see limited metadata with consent. AI should support safe decisions and never replace adults.
What Sprout Guard helps with
Sprout Guard can help with grooming, image pressure, sextortion, threats, blackmail, harmful messages, bullying, strangers moving conversations to private apps, Robux, skins and gift-card pressure, gambling, loot boxes, scams, phishing, adult content, violent content, unsafe AI use, anonymous chat, dating apps and unsafe contact from clubs, coaches or other adults.
Grooming protection
Sprout Guard can flag red signs such as secrecy, delete-the-chat pressure, moving to private apps, image requests, promises of Robux or skins, meetup requests and threats. When the app sees a possible red flag, it can show a calm warning, suggest a safe reply, open a guide or help the child contact a trusted adult.
Image pressure and sextortion
If someone pressures a child to send images, the child should not be met with shame. Sprout Guard uses calm messages such as: You are not in trouble. Do not send anything yet. We can help you talk to a trusted adult.
Images are not stored
Safe Camera, Check Message, Scan Before Send, Sprout AI Guard and Help Me Now can work together to help the child take the next safe step. Blocked private images should not be uploaded to parents, AI or backend services, and Sprout Guard must not store intimate images.
Safe Chat and Safe Writing
Sprout Guard does not only protect children from others. Safe Chat and Safe Writing also help children pause before sending messages that may be bullying, threatening, hateful, sexually pressuring, harmful, private, risky or something they may regret later.
Safe replies
The app can suggest calmer replies such as: I need a break. Let's speak respectfully. I do not want to argue right now. The child can rewrite, stop, ask Sprout AI or send a help request to a trusted adult.
Help Me Now
Help Me Now is for situations where the child does not know what to do. A child can ask for help with threats, image pressure, unsafe links, regret after sharing, gift-card pressure, Robux or skin pressure, meetup pressure, secrets or when the child is not ready to explain everything.
Trusted adults
Parents can add trusted adults such as a parent, grandparent, teacher, after-school educator, school counselor, club coach or another adult the family trusts. Trusted adults only receive limited help-related information and cannot see private messages, images or screen content.
Clubs and coaches
Children often have contact with adults outside school and home. Sprout Guard can help families register trusted activities and contact persons and respond to secrecy, image questions, private late-night contact or pressure.
What parents can see
Parents can see safety status and metadata such as active rules, child requests, app and screen-time status if enabled, blocked categories, high-risk alerts, help requests and Family Map status if location sharing is enabled.
What parents cannot see
Sprout Guard is not designed for hidden monitoring. Parents cannot by default see all messages, all images, blocked private images, screen recordings, everything the child types, full browser history or private school data.
Schools and institutions
Schools can only use Sprout Guard with consent. Teachers can see classroom status and limited metadata in learning rooms, such as whether school focus is active or whether a student is missing setup. Teachers cannot see private messages, images, screen content, precise location or private family alerts.
Reporting safety issues
If you discover a security issue, misuse or something that could harm children, contact us at security@sprout-guard.com. Do not include sensitive child data, private messages or images in the report. In immediate danger, contact the relevant authorities or local emergency help.
