How Sprout Guard approaches privacy-by-design, AI safety, platform limitations and child safety without hidden surveillance.
Privacy by design
Sprout Guard uses data minimization: safety events store category, severity, time, source and recommended action. Private conversations, full URLs, searches and blocked sensitive images are not stored by default.
AI Safety
The OpenAI API key is backend-only. AI does not receive sensitive images, raw input is not stored by default, and AI refuses gambling, bypass, cheating and harmful content.
Platform limitations
Strong app blocking often requires iOS Screen Time/Family Controls, Android Usage Access/Family Link or each platform's own family settings.
What parents can see
Read the clear overview of safety alerts, app names, location, active rules and what parents cannot see.
Security practices
Backend uses role validation, audit logs, SafeLogger, no-sensitive scanner, storage rules, sanitized push and test suite.
