The app cannot reliably determine whether all content was made by AI. An inconclusive result is not proof either way.

What you can do

  • Paste text or a post and review information and questions about its source.
  • Choose PNG, JPEG and WebP image files and examine their metadata.
  • Read text from a screenshot with on-device text recognition and correct it yourself.
  • View verified C2PA information and declared AI use when available. Other findings are clues, not proof.
Why this app?

Explore where content comes from

A post can look credible even when its text or image was created with AI. AI Check is designed to help children and adults explore its origin and ask questions before sharing it.

Paste text or choose an image. The app examines the file’s information and can read text from a screenshot with on-device text recognition. You can correct the extracted text before exploring it further.

Appearance or writing style cannot prove AI use. The app separates verifiable origin information from other clues. When documentation is missing, Cannot be determined is a normal result.

Get started
  1. Choose Text and paste the content, or choose Image and open a PNG, JPEG or WebP file.
  2. Use text recognition on a screenshot to examine its words. Check and correct what the app has read.
  3. Review the origin information and specific findings. Check which information can be verified.
  4. Look into the author and original source. Cannot be determined means the app has no basis for a conclusion about AI use.

More about the features

Origin and AI use

A verified C2PA signature can link origin information to the image file. If the signed declaration specifies AI use, the app shows it. The signature does not prove the content is true, and ordinary metadata is only a clue that can be changed.

Text, posts and images

Paste text from a post or choose PNG, JPEG and WebP. On-device text recognition can read words in a screenshot; you can correct the text afterwards. PDF files, videos and automatically reading other apps are not supported in this test.

Privacy and the result

The app examines material on your device without sending the content to an external service. Missing origin information or distinctive wording is not proof of AI use. Cannot be determined is a normal result. Do not use the check alone to accuse anyone or grade schoolwork.
